Okay. I give. What are the barrettes for?
They aren't barrettes, they are clips for holding my binding in place for stitching instead of pins. They are a fabric store item, but you could use actual barrettes to do the same thing. The crimping on the smaller arm is a little different from a hair barrette, but in a pinch (or to have prettier colours) i could get some from the hair section of the dollar store. They save me the worry of dropped pins around my family and they are quick and easy to use.
